I still can’t beleive you can make a laptop that will cost you only $10. I am still searching for a reliable source but the urge to keep the world updated has made me write this post. A young group of Indians claim that the laptop they built will only cost you $10 or Rs.500.

Students from the Vellore Institute of Technology and scientists from Indian Institue of Science will display the same in Tirupati on February 3rd at Tirupati at the launch of the National Mission Education.
Not much details is known about the laptop but the rumors have it that it comes with a 2GB memory, WiFi, Ethernet and expandable memory.
With that amount of price tag, I don’t expect to see any Windows app running around it. Most probably a Linux will do.
At the moment, Government people say that the laptop will cost around Rs.1000 but as they get the momentum, they will reduce the price to half.
If this is a sucess, it will be a great move towards globalising education including people from the rural areas. A million fold of the population will be able to afford it and it might cause not only a revolution in India, but also the world.
