I remember the first time I started blogging. I had this fancy vision of users thronging to my site 24/7. Well, I was wrong in a sense that there weren’t people on the site 24/7. Anyway back to the topic, in my excitement of creating/owning a blog I thought the more fancier my page was, people would be impressed more. Well, I was wrong.
Doesn’t mean your blog shouldn’t have flashy stuff but everyone to his own design. It all depends on your blog. An informative blog should be simple and the user should be comfortable with the design and should easily spot what he is looking for. A blog related to arts should have modern art or some flash design and so on. Here are some dos and donts:
Do’s-
♦ Appropriate font size.
♦ Good selection of colours.
♦ A Neat look.
♦ Use standard codes for design.
♦ Search function
♦ Newsfeeds and Newsletters.
♦ Page should load quickly.
♦ A sense of originality.
Dont’s-
♦ Pop up ads.
♦ Add more and more of features.
♦ Crowd the page with news.
♦ Slow page load.
Of course, there are more. Each user experiences something or the other but these are the standard notions I see everyday. Also you can hire a professional designer to design your blog or site. You can rest assure you will be having an awesome place to write.
