First was Orkut. People flooded it like mad, especially Indians and now its Facebook. Yep, a lot of desis have moved on to Facebook due to its large application database and more interactive interface. Facebook has decided to provide applications and contents in Hindi. How? By asking India’s coders to join the Facebook India developer contest.
The contest is simple. Facebook has asked developers to create apps in Hindi and english which will be judged and later will be a part of the world’s largest social networking site.
The contest consists of two categories namely the ‘Facebook Apps’ and ‘Facebook Connect Integrations’ which allows other websites to connect with your facebook account.
The Prizes are as follows:
1st Prize – $4000
2nd Prize – $2000
3rd Prize – $1000
The Contest is open to residents of India who are above the age of 16 and have a Facebook account. Users have to post their apps or connect integrations on the Facebook Developer Contest – India page.
The Contest started on July 2nd and is open till September 11th.
