Guys back at Engadget have just booted the much hyped Chrome OS from a USB key and I reckon from their short experience its something totally difference and the major feature? Major Speed. Major.

According to Engadget, the Chrome OS boots up in a matter of seconds and websites load in an instant.
The build we’re using, courtesy of @hexxeh on Twitter, who made all this possible with some great instructions and a masterfully-built chromiumos.img, was also able to log into the apps pane — something we didn’t pull off onĀ our virtualized rig. We wouldn’t call this our main Linux jam just yet, but even as we strut cockily back to our “big people computer,” it’s hard not to feel the love for something this simple and swift.

There you go. Simple and swift and on a build that is not officially of Google’s. Hexxeh’s Chromium OS build is free and you can test it on your own notebook. Also check out Engadget’s Video if you just want to look at what they have done with it.
