Sn0wbreez 1.6 has been released and now users can create custom firmwares with great ease. As usual, backup your data using iTunes before you get started.

You will need to download sn0wbreez 1.6 from iH8sn0w. Also, if you have not yet updated to iOS4, please do. Also you will be needing iTunes 9.2.

As of now sn0wbreez 1.6 supports iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 2G. The iPhone 3GS should be on the old bootroom.

The new sn0wbreez 1.6 enables options like background wallpaper, battery percentage and multitasking on iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G.

Lets get started! As I have mentioned before, backup your data with iTunes 9.2. Also, your device should already be jailbroken excluding using Spirit jailbreak.

How To Jailbreak iPhone 3G/3GS using sn0wbreez 1.6:

1. Run sn0wbreez 1.6 and click next (blue arrow button bottom right).

2. Select Expert Mode and continue.

3. Select Browse and select the iOS4 firmware (IPSW file) you had downloaded for you iPhone 3G/3GS.

4. You will next see a confirmation of the firmware along with your iPhone model. Click next.

5. On the next dialog box, you will see lot of options like General, installers etc. Click General.

6. Select the features you want in your iPhone 3G including background pictures, battery percentage etc. If you own a iPhone 3GS, you will need not do anything. Click Next.

7. sn0breeze will modify your firmware and this might take time. Wait for it to finish and then the name sn0wbreeze will be displayed before the filename of the custom OS such as sn0wbreeze_iPhone 3G.

8. Restored the custom firmware to the iPhone 3G/3GS by connecting it to the computer and launching the iTunes and then clicking Restore button holding onto the shift button.

9. When iTunes asks for the firmware file, just point it to the custom firmware you just built using the sn0wbreeze 1.6. Thats it! After restoring, iPhone will restart and your phone will be jailbroken!

There is a way to take screenshots on an iPhone/iPod Touch. To Take a screenshot on a iPod Touch or iPhone, press the power button on the top and the home button simultaneously. When you do that, the phone will flicker for a second and you will hear a sound.

Bingo! Your screenshot has been taken and it will be saved in a new album as “Saved Photos”.

But first you will need to have a jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch.

After installation, follow the steps given below:

♦ Download .torrent files to your device with the HistoryDL.app (recommended) or the Safari Download Plugin into the mobile (or root)/Downloads folder.

♦ The program will scan your mobile (or root)/Downloads folder for new torrent files, and will import any valid torrent files regardless of their filename or extension.

♦ When a torrent has finished downloading from peers it will be automatically moved to mobile (or root)/Media/Downloads when selected.

Your files will be on the download process even if this application is closed, no need of the Backgrounder app.

Nissan is planning to release a triad of electric vehicles and will also be releasing an iPhone application which will help drivers manage their Electric Vehicles. This will allow owners to monitor their car’s battery level. The application will let owners see how much charge is left in their car’s battery, how much time is required for a full charge and, for public charging stations, the approximate cost of a fill up.

The program would also allow owners to communicate with their car to turn on the air conditioning or heat remotely to make the car more comfortable – especially if it is still attached to a charging station, otherwise it would rapidly drain the battery.

Resident Evil 4 was released sometime back for iPhone in the Japanese Apple App Store. The graphics don’t look bad at all; it is quite decent. The game was originally released on Nintendo Gamecube in 2005. Since then it has expanded to other platforms. It is a port. The biggest drawback of this port is exactly that, it’s a port.  It wasn’t created specifically for the iPhone, so it contains a trimmed down story with no voice overs.  This truly is a mobile version of a great classic, so you must take it for what it is.

The Resident Evil 4 retails for $7.99 and you can get it from the Apple iTunes App Store. There is something to look forward to because there is some gossip that the 3D graphics is going to be good on the iPhone. Check out a video preview of the RE4.

Another application to deliver messages as ‘pop-ups’ has released and the Gods (read as Devs) have named it the ‘iTwitter’. Not bad for a name. iTwitter is a Push-enabled application for the iPhone 3GS.

I expected TweetDeck to launch a push-enabled application but rookies are making their way to the top. iTwitter, launched on July 5th at the iTunes Store is already the most visited app of yesterday. iTwitter shows Direct messages, favorites, follower lists etc., in short it is everything that TweetDeck offers and more. It also supports TwitPic, searches and conversations.

Yesterday at 3:01 AM, the developer team sent a Tweet saying ‘iTwitter’s Push works perfectly!’. Well, the rest is history atleast for the developers.

The Push messages pop up on your screen like other Instant messengers. Tap to launch iTwitter and view the message.

All this sounds good. However, if you have follow a large number of people then it can be irritable at times. Also the guy/girl who tweets should also have an iTwitter app and obviously an iPhone 3GS.

Purplera1n has been released for Mac OS X. Now you can jailbreak the iPhone 3GS with firmware 3.0 on your Mac OS X using Purplera1n.

Jailbreak iPhone 3GS on Mac Using Purplera1n:

1. Download Purplera1n by navigating to www.purplera1n.com and clicking the Apple logo.

2. Launch the downloaded application by extracting it from the zipped file.

3. Click the huge ‘Make it ra1n’ button.

4. Your iPhone 3GS should now be in the recovery mode.

5. Purplera1n will process and then your iPhone 3GS will reboot.

6. Once your iPhone 3GS reboots, navigate to your Springboard and press the new ‘Freeze’ button.

7. After Freeze opens, press ‘Install Cydia’.

8. After the Cydia installation is complete, reboot your iPhone 3GS.

9. After your iPhone 3GS reboots, run Cydia.
