Windows 7 like its predecessors does not support much codecs for all your media files. Therefore, Windows Media Player 12 needs an external installation of codecs to support some media files.

Firewalls are really necessary especially if you are a one who surfs the web extensively. The default Windows firewall is fine but I suggest you also start using Zone Alarm 9.1 which is one dedicated program when protecting your computer.
